A chawan is solely used to prepare and drink matcha tea. It is one of the most important utensils in the Japanese tea ceremony. It is poetically referred to as “hand-held universe”.
This Aoshino matcha chawan features a beautiful blue, brown and black colored finish. It has been handmade in Toki-City in the prefecture Gifu, famous for „Minoyaki“ pottery. It is the oldest pottery found in Japan and has been made since the 7th century.
